Volunteering at the Goodman Youth Farm

Volunteers do so much at the Goodman Youth Farm. Some work directly with youth, while others get the farm ready for students to have the best experience possible. Volunteering on the Youth Farm is fun, rewarding, and...tasty! Below you will find a description of our 2017 volunteer opportunities.

Saturday Volunteer Days

Join us the second Saturday of each month from April through November from 9:00am to 12:00pm! We will weed, plant, compost, and learn about organic gardening. All of our projects will help get our farm ready for visiting students.

Who: We love volunteers who come in groups, in families, or on their own. We also welcome volunteers of all ages! (Children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.)

Dates:  April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, October 13, November 10

Volunteer days may be cancelled due to inclement weather conditions or low volunteer sign-ups (less than 3 volunteers). Registered volunteers will be notified via phone or email if a volunteer day is cancelled.

Weekly Volunteers

These volunteers are integrated with our staff and interns, and are an indipsensible part of our weekday team.

"Though I was only a part of Goodman Youth Farm for a month, I enjoyed every minute of my experience. The exposure to hands-on, farm-based education was the most fulfilling, as well as the raw education that I was able to receive about farming, harvesting, and caring for certain crops. I also really enjoyed that the experience offered a balanced opportunity for healthy teamwork and individual duties and responsibilities. I look forward to be able to be a part of the spring season!" -Fall volunteer, 2016

"It brought me so much joy to share with the kids the amazing gifts from the farm, all the healthy and fresh foods, and to simply witness their reactions to being on a farm! My heart was so full every time I left my volunteer shifts at the Goodman Youth Farm." - 2016 volunteer
